Not all games are scaled to 120hz. Psvr can do native 90 or 120hz. Only games outputing at 60hz can be bumped up to 120hz.
Release date is a week after E3. I have a feeling Sony will announce VR support at their conference right before release.
All of the above is likely.
@above
The external PU has been generally reported to assist only with 3D audio and unwrapping the VR image for display on a TV. I wouldnt expect this to add much cost to the PSVR because it's nothing too taxing. The PS4 handles everything else including the temporal reprojection.
While graphics on the PSVR wont compare with what we'd typically expect for a non-vr game, its going to be all about art style. Plus, not every game is going to look like 100ft robot...
@kiwi yes, a lot will use the ds4. But a lot of games similar to job simulator or the heist have you using two move controllers to simulate your hands. I think a lot of new comers to VR will get hooked on being able to grab stuff in VR
Im thinking there will be two bundles. One standalone and one with the camera + 2× move controllers
@donthate There is no way Sony will offer the PSVR at over $400, at least for the stand alone unit. They know they need to move units to create a user base for all the game content that will be created and where most of their profits will come from.
The great thing about VR is that it can really wow people who have never tried it before. I think if Sony get enough out there into peoples houses it could really catch on.
Yes. The camera tracks the headset with assistance from accelerometers built in.
Read a few previews. Its impressed pretty much everone that's tried it. Also, its been widely stated that the screen door effect is virtually unnoticable in gameplay due the layout of the sub-pixels on the screen.
I havent had lag, but definitely experienced huge match making times and failed loading attempts. I keep going back though because at its core its a great game. On PS4 btw.
The thing is, it's not just taking off in gaming. A number of industries have a massive interest in VR at the moment where it could be very useful. This is the first generation of consumer headsets. Im sure we are going to see the technology evolve a lot in the next decade. VR is here to stay.
I dont see any significant benefit of moving from 1080p to 4k. Unless you have an 80" tv or you sit super close to your tv, I doubt most people could tell the difference between the two. I think the smarter direction for consoles is to stick with 1080p, push the graphics more (not the res) and ensure the consoles can provide a decent VR option, that will likely mean they could produce higher than 1080p anyway.
There is no way this is only coming to PS3. At the very least it would have been ported to the PS4 if development did start on the PS3.
Im thinking a surprise PSVR and No mans Sky bundle at $300 is a possibility. A bit cheaper would be nice though.
That's the VR box.
I doubt this will be VR exlusive.
@LiveCustoms And youre spewing the exact same opinion in half the PSX articles I've read. Whats your agenda?
Anyway, I think this will be awesome as a VR title, hopefully it's a little less arcady than the last few entries.
I agree Sony has definitely taken a back seat to Samsung over the last decade, but Ive generally found Sony products to be superior in quality, particuarly their TVs. But you're right, the price to quality ratio has been in Samsung's favour.
Ive generally found DF very even handed in their analysis. Just because somone has a preference for something doesnt mean all their work is suddenly biased. Theres lots of clients I have that arent easy to work with, but you treat them all the same because thats being a professional, like this guy probably is.
@Napalm Yes you can play on 2D display.
